Benedict's picked out a couple of patterns he'd like me to make for him. If I could get to Arbury Court or the town centre, I could buy the yarn I need for about a fiver. As it is, I can't leave the house. Anyone fancy a trip for me? He wants sky blue acrylic dk, 500g or red acrylic aran, 500g.
Ah, never nmind, there's the postman bringing the yarn for my new top, so I'll do that first and his next.
UPDATE; he's decided that he'll have a moss stitch jumper in a sort of black with coloured flecks yarn I already had. My top can wait, he's been waiting long enough. (And so has Col, I've not forgotten, I've just lost the pattern for his jumper.)

Since you're obviously a good knitter, do you think you could recommend any websites that would tell me how to make how to make a nice (and really quick and easy) scarf for a guy?

Date: 2006-01-31 02:26 pm (UTC)Hmm. Easy scarves. How easy? I mean, is there any reason you can't just cast on 30 or 40 stitches and garter stitch the lot? Otherwise, there are some nice scarves in Stitch'n'Bitch Nation, which your local library might have (the pink fluffy one looks really masculine done in a non fluffy brown/white variegated, and I'd guess would work with other neutral colours).
Otherwise, I'd try http://knitting.about.com/library/blscarfpatindex.htm

Date: 2006-01-31 03:00 pm (UTC)There's no reason I can't just do garter stiching, but I need to get a start on it. I also thought about garter stiching the length of the scarf (like casting on 100+ stiches), but I realized that I might need _really_ long needles for that. Any thoughts?
