Watch Firefly. It's Joss Whedon Writes Cowboys In Space. It's just great. It's like Buffy without all the pesky morals.

Absolutely! Couldn't agree more!

I'm really pleased someone apart from me suggested it too! :)

Buffy = Good
Angel = Good
Six Feet Under = Good
(can't comment on the others you listed - not watched them)
However, Firefly = AWESOME! ;)

I'm not a Buffy fan at all, so I ignored Firefly when it first came out -- blame me for the cancellation if you like -- but got totally sucked into the DVDs, and now I'm a big ol' Firefly fan.

I think it's ended well. DVD sales lead to movie options, and it's quite possibly going to get to the point where the franchise doesn't *need* to go cap in hand to the networks anymore.

Hey, it doesn't let me answer "none of the above" to question 3. (Or rather, it does, but it doesn't list it in the results.)

I'll second FIREFLY, which you'll want to see before the movie (SERENITY) comes out in September.

SMALLVILLE has its moments.

24 is really very silly indeed if you ever take a moment to think about it, but will probably make you have some very late nights as you watch "just one more episode" - it's all about the insane cliff-hanger.

STARGATE SG-1 and its spinoff STARGATE ATLANTIS are both variable, but have likeable characters, and are a bit more thought-through than a lot of TV sci-fi. Plus, if you do like them, they're up to, what, the ninth season about to begin?

Oh, and TRU CALLING, starring Eliza "Faith" Dushku, lasted one series and six eps before getting canned, but was a lot better than it had any right to be. Recommended.

I can't make any sort of meaningful comment on this one having not seen any of the above - we don't own a TV.
