It's nearly national breakfast week again (24th-30th January) and I often find myself talking about breakfast so now seems like a good time.
A few years ago, I tried Shake Up Your Wake Up not in the belief that everyone should eat breakfast or everyone's dietary requirements are the same, but more in the spirit of enjoying food challenges.
What I learnt then was that I feel good if I eat protein and bad if I eat grains. Cereal, porridge, toast, etc all leaves me feeling bloated then hungry sooner. A plate of eggs and bacon or sausages ( then) or halloumi (now), an omelette, yogurt, all lead to me feeling good through the morning.
So mostly that's what I eat. Either halloumi with eggs cracked over the top (I don't normally like fried eggs but somehow the white is less crispy when I do this, either because it's dimensional coating the cheese or because I use a lot of butter) out plain yogurt with fruit is my go to, but avocado with an egg baked in is good, as is hummous with crudités, and I'm sure about a dozen things I can't think if right now.

Date: 2016-01-10 03:27 pm (UTC)I do feel better when I eat that rather than toast-and-marmite, but the advantage of toast-and-marmite is that it is a breakfast D can bring me on the mornings when I can get up a bit later. SLEEP VS PROTEIN PROBLEM.
Hadn't occurred to me to have hummus & veg for breakfast, though. I do very often eat hummus at lunch though & it gets a bit boring after a while, even while remaining tasty.
