Firstly I'd go to Kerbela Street in Bethnal Green in about 1953/4, to meet my Mum when she was a small girl and my grandparents when they were a young married couple.
Next I would go to Hackney in the late 1920s to meet my Grandad's mother, who was an amazing stong woman who died in 1939. I'd see Grandad as a boy and find out what happened to his father, who died in the mid 1920s but we can find no death certificate. There was a lot of mystery surrounding him - he changed his name at least once and I'd love to know more. Maybe I'd go earlier to when he was alive and cross question him...
Thirdly I'd go to the General Election in 1945, or possibly to one of the first meetings of the new cabinet. Extrordinary times.
Then the Chicago World Fair, and then to Crystal Palace to the Great Exhibition in 1851.
Rome or Pompeii in c70AD wouls also be on my list.
