Thanks for all your comments yesterday :)

Today a nice man brought me 12 tins of pumpkin (one for each month - don't worry, I paid him. Also, I don't really think I'll still have pumpkin in a years time). So I'm making Molly's easy pumpkin pie. I made it before, with sweet potato puree, but never with actual pumpkin. Hopefully it will be just as delicious. I'm also going to make smoothies and maybe ice cream and jam. I love pumpkin jam.

In other news, chunks of pumpkin have appeared in my back garden, and I can't think why. It's not as though I had a fresh pumpkin yet this year (or last year).

Ooooh, tinned pumpkin, where do you get that from? (Other than a nice man, obv)

Ocado. Available until thanksgiving (last thursday of November). Presumably ths is also true of Waitrose, but Waitrose is far away.

I made pumpkin cookies last night. What's pumpkin jam like? Sort of like apple butter?

I had to look apple butter up :) I don't think so... apple butter seems to be basically concentrated apple sauce, with no added sugar, is that right? Jam is made the same way as jelly, but instead of straining the fruit, you use the whole fruit. I tend to use equal quantities fruit and sugar. For pumpkin, I also add ginger (just because that's how my mum makes it).

Super-concentrated spiced applesauce, really. Some people do add sugar (although I use pure apple cider). It winds up with the consistency of a spread after being cooked down enough - it's much more jam-like than jelly-like though.

Can you send your pumpkin jam recipe? I think I'd like to try making it!
