too warm

dear weather,
today iss the 12th of March. I wore a strappy vest top and have been uncomfortably warm. this is seasonally inappropriate

Yesterday morning it felt really amazingly warm out, and I was quite surprised to discover that it was in fact 0 C.

I am sure that -5 to -8 or so, coming from a couple of weeks of -24 with fourteen degrees of windchill on top, is actually warmer than 8 or 10 degrees is in autumn.

I just want it to get out of the bit of end of winter/beginning of spirng where everything melts during the day and then freezes over night. This is not good for pavements next to large snowbanks, which here and now is almost all snowbanks.

Lovely though the notion is, it seems only fair to point out that we normally get two or three months of temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s elsewhen in the year, with humidity enough atop that that the effective heat can go up to 40, before you make a firm commitment. *hug* I like the heat; papersky likes the cold; this is one of the few places on the planet we each get to be comfortable a goodly chunk of the year.

today is indeed the 12th of March, and although I stopped wearing my thermal undershirt last week, leaving me with merely a turtleneck and a jumper under my winter coat, weather.com is predicting snow showers for the end of the week here in Chicago. So I'm sure you'll understand if I say I don't quite feel your pain...

I do know what you mean actually. I remember sitting outside at the end of last summer, after weeks of sweltering heat, looking forward to being able to snuggle up with cats and blankets and big, fuzzy jumpers. But after months of slithering over ice and having my neck permanently hidden between hunched shoulders against the wind chill, I can't wait for spring.

As per usual, the grass is greener elsewhere.
