Having just re-discovered (or rather, remembered) last.fm I have run up against a confusing thing.

I can work out how to listen to my station, I can use flash. That's not great, but nor are the speakers on mu laptop.

What I can't work out how to do is to install the software, so if I do bother to listen to CDs or other internet radio or whatever on here, it's not going to be recorded.

Neither the FAQ nor the readme associated with the software have any help. They just say 'download'. And then what?

I'm running Edubuntu 6.06

Update; Aha! I have apparently downloaded not a player, as I'd thoguht from reading the webpage, but a plugin. No wonder I can't work out how it works.

I installed the xmms plugin, so now when I use xmms to play music, it appears in my profile.

Yeah. It depends on your player. I mostly use Amarok, which has the function built-in, but most of the popular programs have a plug-in available.

I am, incidentally, exactly who you'd expect on last.fm .

It was what last.fm happened to be playing at me, and not objectionable enough to skip.
