Tsunami Appeal Come & Sing (Cambridge)
Jan. 5th, 2005 04:05 pmThe Come and Sing for the Disaster Appeal will definitely take place onSunday January 16th in Great St. Mary's between 2.00 and 5.30. Theprogramme will be the Vivaldi Gloria, Mozart's Ave Verum, and excerpts from
Messiah (mainly Part 1, with some other choruses). There will be a flat rate £5 participation/admission charge, but there will be collecting buckets for donations at the end of the performance.
A representative from one of the charities will probably come and make a brief appeal speech.
We need to involve as many singers/choirs as we possibly can. GSM holds up to 1500 people, and it would great to try and at least fill the downstairs area with singers. The Cambridge Sinfonia is providing the orchestra.
Singers are asked to bring their own copies (and spares if they have them) if at
all possible, but we shall need to provide music, so if you know of any sources
of vocal scores of Messiah and the Vivaldi (any edition) could you let me know.
