Just finished: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

The author took some old photos and thought of a story to wind them together. It hangs nicely off the illustrations, which are liberally spattered through the book, but has a life of its own, too. It reminds me of Catherine Sefton or Carrie's War, somehow, while still feeling very fresh. There are monsters, there is intrigue, there is satisfaction. I enjoyed.


Just starter: Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher

This was recommended by marnanel, and is a mystery in letters.

I'll be taking it back to the library on Friday, and there wasn't a waiting list so it will presumably stay there for a bit. (Actually, the webpage says this copy lives in Arbury Court.)

Cool! I looked in the library catalogue a few years ago and they didn't have it - they must have got it in since.

I bought it a couple of years ago and didn't likeit. I can't remember whether I actually finished it.Not sure if it is still here.Etiquette Espionage arrived today though. But I have a pile of to read as it was my birthday in September and I got a few myself too.
