My favourite two-player card game, that is.

Today, I had maillove in the shape of an extremely beautiful piece of art, flight patterns by [livejournal.com profile] firinel There will be photos when it is on the wall - currently, it is sitting on the dining table where I can gaze at it whilst eating breakfast.

We went to Rainbows cafe for our dinner; food as lovely as previously experienced, but Benedict had trouble with his lasagne - apparently it tasted nice, but was 'too gooey'. Maybe lasagne should be printed with usage instructions.

In other news, I've discovered what's going wrong (and right) with my second sock - measurigng the second sock against the first, rather than a ruler, results in a smaller sock., This is good on the foot part - my left foot is smaller than my right - but not on the leg bit. I know what to do though. My next socks for me will be the Purl when ready socks, but I'm having trouble with my swift, and managed to make a complete mess of balling up my yarn. [livejournal.com profile] cjwatson needs socks first though. It;s about time to be his turn :)

Also, I finished listening to 'The Moon of Gomrath'; the story was a bit non-existent, but I did like the flow of the language. A good thing to listen to on audio book, and I do like audio books when knitting.

(ps. did you know there's an American girl called Kirsten? I want one now!)

oh, yay, I'm glad that it got there safely and that you're enjoying it f2f.

I did know about Kirsten. I don't know if you order from from AG if they ship internationally. You could always have it shipped here, and then we'll ship it on to you. Alternatively, you can generally find one cheaply on ebay.

Did you see the doll sock knitting patterns that I'd posted? You could make your Kirsten new socks :)

Cool :)

I found this but she doesn't look like the doll on the website. Is that maybe due to being an older doll? I'd rather have one with brown eyes, because I have brown eyes :) And of course the hair done differently, that would make a difference.

That doll's not a Kirsten, she's a "Girl of Today" (what they use to be called or "Just Like You" (what they're called now) doll. They don't come with names, so you can name them whatever you like. Kirsten's, no matter how old, have blonde hair and blue eyes. You can get a JLY doll in practically any hair/eye combination, so if you like, you could get one with brown eyes. It just wouldn't be the one AG's named Kirsten at that point.

I thought it might be something like that. I'll get a proper Kirsten doll. Thankyou.

OMG! If that's the same SPIT that I used to play, that is a real blast from the past

*wanders off to play*

We play Shithead (although call it Shed) and Racing Demons, too. Very teenager-ish. 'Tis good; but I haven't found them on the internet yet. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, MANY years ago when I first moved to the US, our new neighbour bought me the AG Kirsten book. I had no idea they did dolls of them too, but I still have the book somewhere, and remember the story!

:) I think the books all go with a doll, although each doll might have several books.

Is it because you keep including the needle when you measure it, or just becuase your socks are perverse?

it's to do with that, and the way the fabric lies when it's not on the needle.

I like your icon. I forgot, you were talking about socks, so they must be on 3 needles? Shall have to admire your socks.

Yes, 3 or 4. Also, I think I get over enthusiastic on the second and impatient to finish.

Who can be unhappy with clangers?

We called that game speed, with only slight rules variations. You kept your entire stack in your hand, with four slots on the table, that you could refill at will.

I usedf to play speed, but then it feels different to me, but it has been many years. Spit is a new game to me, [livejournal.com profile] xanna taught me.
