Books for children
Sep. 30th, 2013 05:23 pmI have a policy that when the children have had the same book out of the library five times (between them) I buy our own copy. This is a pretty good guide of what they actually want to read, you see.
So far, we have bought:
Enormous Elephant by Mwenye Hadithi. I actually bought the set of African Animal Tales from the Book People. These are Just So style stories, and are all fabulous. Elephant is still one of the favourites.
Who am I? Baby Animals which I don't really get the appeal of, but Andreas loves
So Much by Trish Cooke. I love Trish Cooke, her books are so full of life. My favourite is Full, full, full of love because it's about food, but the children like this one best.
Stormy Weather by Debi Gliori. Again, we bought the book set from The Book People. Debi Gliori writes vaguely hippyish attachment parenting style books which are great because the families look like ours. She's also good for gender neutral
characters
Peppa Pig's First Pet. Andreas loves Peppa Pig, what can you do?
We've had a couple of others three or four times as well, including 365 penguins which properly lives in a different library and we've borrowed it every time we've seen it in our library so we should probably just get our own copy.
Edit: I can't believe I forgot the two books that started us out on this policy:
My Doll Keshia by Eloise Greenfield, a board book about a little girl playing with her doll. The pictures are really sweet, and it was Judith's absolute favourite for ages.
Als Der Kleine Nachtbär Kam a story about bedtimes.
