We went to the Traveller's Rest in Chittering last night. I had whitebait followed by chicken stuffed with asparagus and brie and wrapped in bacon, served with vetg and spouds and wild rice. Col had 'Seafood special'; a mix of fish and shellfish in a hot sauce, followed by Steak Diane, mushrooms, tomatoes, veg and chips.
There was so much food! I had to use my pudding stomach on my main course, and even then couldn't finish. They got the courgettes right, something which no restaurant *ever* does. It was also all really, really nice. the whitebait was perfectly cooked, with an actually edible green salad, white bread, and lemon; teh yum, in fact. The brie was perfectly briesome and the sparrowgrass tender, and the flavours so perfectly melded. The veg was all cooked to perfection, and they'd used nice potatoes - I think Nicola, but I could be wrong. Not Maris bloody Peer, which is good, because I hate Maris * potatoes, and they're a local breed...
Highly recommended. Next time I won't have a starter, though; their puddings sounded lovely :)
In other news, Special K purple fruits is so fruity it even turns the milk purple!
