Happy Christmas to all! We had a wonderful day yesterday.
My beloved Tom joined us at church, where the service was lovely and the sermon short. Sleep sort of happened - Andreas kept waking up asking if it was morning yet and falling asleep again
Then stockings ("Mummy my own Ricky Ricotta book and I don't have to take it back to the library!") and presents and coookng before the arrival of old friends and a house packed so full of love. I added fondant potatoes this year, which was a good idea. Turkey for meat eaters, nut roast for veggies, roast veg, sweet potato with cinnamon, broccoli, steamed sprouts, raw carrots, 4 stuffings and bread sauce, cranberry sauce and apple sauce left over from first day of Chanukah. Christmas pudding, last minute addition of mincemeat cheesecake and brandy butter/vanilla ice cream. Lots of crackers and jokes and talking. Our partners arrived over the course of the afternoon/evening, and we lit the second candle of Chanukah and talked about the story of Chanukah and the story of Judith and played a game and drank tea, and the children were enthusiastic at people and so was I.
And I got a toy and a book and a game and a shiny, which was my description of what I wanted, and a lot more besides :) and, even more so, a day of togetherness and outpouring of love.
