Weekend

We went to the seaside! I hadn't bothered going to Hunstanton by train before because it feels further than Cromer or Sheringham or Felixstowe, but it was really nice, and seasidey enough despite facing the Wash rather than open sea. There's a lot going on, traditional seaside peir activities (I remember being surprised when we took someone to the seaside who expected to spend it on the rides/in the arcade rather than the beach, it just hadn't occurred to me that we might have such a different idea of what seaside meant) and amphibious tours and the sealife centre (we'd been before but didn't this time, I expect we could easy get a fun week's holiday out of it and might well try and go again - sometimes it's useful to have a place where Colin can stay the weekend and the rest of us the rest of hte week.

A good time was had by all, and much sandcastles built, chips and ice cream eaten, paddling paddled etc.

Then we came home and had cake and champagne (hurray for Colin, who had made said cake, and R&T who had given the champagne, thank you!) and so to bed.

Sunday I'd intended to go to a gaming group with new people, but instead I woke up with a rotten cold, so stayed at home and we played The Hobbit (which turns out to be a rather neat family competitive game, easy to play and fun - Judith won comfortably) and watched Big Hero 6, which Judith had seen the trailers when it was on at the cinemat and mentioned she wanted to see it. It has several Disney tropes, but it's also very cute, and the emphasis on Japanese culture was lovely. Also, I got the mystery which I don't usually, so I was pleased with that. We all enjoyed it, even Andreas who looked at one point as though he wasn't going to bother staying until the end.

And today I'm feeling a lot better and we're considering Inside Out this evening, but I'll otherwise take it easy.
