Feb. 21st, 2003 12:56 pmThere are those who would say that getting a lift from a strange man, which involves you standing around in a red light area, is not the wisest move. However, it turned out to be a nice strange man, and, for those of you that don't know Cambridge, the red light district my house is allegedly in is, erm, extremely discreet.
Anyway, film club. YEs. Never been before, but there was cheesecake, and
zotz being zotzy,
deliberateblank being deliberately blank, and aforesaid strange man, who is strange (in the sense of unknown) no longer, but whose lj username I don't know. And films. (Quite important, no?)
They were 'Martin', a film about a boy called Martin, vampirism, love, lust and timidity, which gave rise to a Soft Cell song of the same name. (Quoogle also offers a play called 'From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads' by Adrian Berry. Short synopsis is 'Love, death and David Bowie' Hmmm). Also 'Near Dark', a film calculated to make one go 'ooh pretty', and shift in ones seat at the knowledge that a disappointing ending is inevitable. (In which I was not disappointed). That's probably unfair. It's got vampires, fire, lots of night, and a soppy 'familys are good and true love will prevail' message. Just be aware that yes, it really *is* going to end the way you think it will.
