Aliens steal Jerusalem

Do any of you remember tthe name of the book about US politics, where a group of aliens interfere and, among other things, steal Jerusalem until both sides can cooperate? There were lots of abductions, and the central character was a woman from a bad neighbourhood, and there were at least two species of aliens, one of whom were very artistic.

Any ideas? Google can't help...

TIA

Update: [livejournal.com profile] timeplease is right; it's the Fresco by Sheri S Tepper.

No idea, but it sounds like something I'd want to read, so if you do find out please post a reference to it!

I'm pretty sure I've read that and they didn't steal Jerusalem, but then I havea bad memory. Senior moments.

Oh yes they did! Also, lots of people were abducted. By aliens, mostly. And there were some men who had to spend time pregnant. Disaster was finally averted using some special effects and artistic flair.

Thankyou! That's it.

[livejournal.com profile] timeplease is right. They only stole the Old City of Jerusalem. IIRC, I lent it to you, and it's now sitting in my bookcase.

Aha! That's why I thought it was Colin.
