I had such a great party on Saturday, thanks to my lovely people who helped it happen - partners who gave me extra time and a little bit of advice, or in Tom's case, kitchen space. Children who helped me cook and talked and didn't mind when I was a bit distracted. I pulled off 41 dishes of variable quality and deliciousness. Thank you to everyone who came!

There are a few dishes I'll keep and make again - spinach maria (Tennessee), for example, which is spinach baked in a cheese sauce, and a lot of the puddings were nice. Dirt pudding from Ohio was I think the general favourite? It's basically a goopy chocolate pudding with ground oreos and gummy worms.

I'm so glad I got to do this, after wanting to do it ever since the article came out. Happy Thanksgiving!

It was amazing. I really loved the first few things I had, but now I can't match them up to the names on the list, so I'm not sure what they were! Sorry :)

Glad to hear it went well. What where the dishes form California and Iowa? (States I've lived in)

Also the agronomy department used to make accuracy layered dirt pudding for the university festival while I was in grad school.

California was Persimmon bread, which came out more like bread pudding but was one of Colin's favourites; Iowa was snicker apple salad, which was not well received although Tom loved it.

Yes, but I worry about chocolate sourcing, so I bought Aldi own brand alternative which has ethics certification. Snickers used to be called Marathon in the UK, and the Aldi version is called Racer which I love because it could be referencing either name.
