Story

Judith just brought me a book and asked for a story. Nothing unusual there.... but this time, the book was a notebook she'd written in. There was lots of writing, none of which I understood, but she wouldn't read it to me. Baby's first story!

So I read 'Not Now, Bernard' for the third time today.

That is so wonderful. I hope to ask her for a signed copy of her first novel.

That is enormously awesome. Please hold on to the book! Maybe someday she will provide a translation.

OT, but where does your icon come from? It seems familiar but that may just be that I've seen it around. But I adore it.

Maybe :) I'm not sure whether her writing system is entirely consistent, but I can recognise kisses, and she has written the same thing twice and declared that they both say 'Biddy' (which is what I call her a bit less than half the time). I suspect that from one day to the next she'll not be able to read her handwriting, indicating a bright future in academia. (You know, because doctors have bad handwriting... and my ex, Oxford's most illegible bachelor, stands by that stereotype.)

The icon is Charlie and Lola, by Lauren Child. There's a TV series as well. Both the books and the TV are enormously popular here.

It's from Charlie and Lola.
