Unless of course you have the misfortune to live in one of the constituencies were the polling stations closed before everyone had voted, or they ran out of ballot papers...

Although I do feel smug, now having voted before 8:30 in the morning. Why would people leave it till the last minute, unless they had to?

A lot of the people who were turned away hadn't turned up late - they'd been queueing up to two hours.

and some people can't get to the polls earlier because they have ridiculously long shifts. I think those seats should be recontested automatically, without anybody having to stump up £5k. Personally, I would have broken the law in the name of democracy, and kept the polls open until every body had voted.
