I have a new favourite restaurant!
No longer will Loch Fyne and Restaurant 22 vie for my favours and the top spot, the winner is:
Cafe Sorgenfri.
With comfy chairs,

delightful atmosphere and interesting decorations

(that's a stuffed wolf in a mob cap behind the bird cage with the beer in)
and delightfully pleasant and helpful waiting staff, this is a place which feels comfortable.
But the best thing about it; the menu. My main course (Salmon med sesongens grønnsaker, sjøkreps-kremost, blåskjell- og sitrongress skum og amandinpoteter) was a little fussy (the crayfish cream cheese (sjøkreps-kremost) was just too rich and sent it overboard), but Colin's (Pork med soppstuing, bacon, sukkererter og potet- og rotfruktsrösti) was excellent, a really united dark flavour; and either my starter (chicken galantine with lemon-dressed fennel and croutons) or my dessert (milk chocolate creme brulee) were enough to justify the entire trip, in my mind at least. Of course, next time I'll be able to understand the menu, rather than just ordering the thing I understood least :)

Might I also put in a word for the old-world charms of the Old Fire-Engine House in Ely? And the less old-world ones of the Boathouse, which is owned by Cambs Cuisine, also responsible for the Crown and Punchbowl at Horningsea...

our school cook used to work there. I should try it.
(He's a temp, for some reason. We've been enjoying it.)

Perhaps we might meet to give it a go, as I haven't seen youraself and Colin since your wedding.
