10 things to know about dating a geek

It's all true! (except that ny Colin is obviously more of a Prince Charming than a Steve Ballmer (yes, he is paying me to say that))

I find it hard to explain that even after 10 hours programming at work during the day I need to go on the computer for at least 2 hours in the evening...

It's a good job Colin is not Steve Ballmer. Can you imagine what that would be like? You'd be living with someone who jumped around like a loony, screaming at the top of his voice all day.

And don't think it gets any better after dark. I dread the thought of someone who incessantly chants "Developers, developers, developers, developers..." during sex.

Hmm. I disagree with point #4 "Profanity is his friend." Most geeks I know are very clean-mouthed. I guess she had such a sheltered upbringing that the occassional frustrated "shit" sounds like a lot. There are after all, plenty of people out there who can't utter 5 words without 3 of them being swearing.

Point #9 though, is a very good one, even if she made an error in her pseudo-code.

Ah, y'see, My Young Man (TM), though normally quiet and unassuming (albeit gorgeous and wonderful, of course), can RANT if something goes wrong, with colourful language to go with it. I just nod and smile.

Hmm. I think I'd go with what [livejournal.com profile] tea_cantata said; most of my geeks have been clean-mouthed, except when something geeky goes wrong. I guess that makes it more worth noting, because it's a surprise.
