Question

If the groom doesn't turn up, the bride has to marry the best man, right? So, who does she marry if the best man is already married?

I thought, traditionally, the groom was supposed to appoint a best man who was single for this reason.

Nowadays, that is largely ignored, but then so too is the tradition of the bride marrying the best man if the groom does a no-show.

Well, is the best man monogamous? :)

The groom's younger brother? A random usher?

Hmmm... his witness was [livejournal.com profile] jon_the_id, his younger (rockstar) brother, which would have made for an odd couple... my witness [livejournal.com profile] kitschcraft really doesn't go for girls, but we would have had a beautiful home & regular cocktail evenings.

If the groom doesn't turn up, the bride goes down the pub.
