Beer and Sandwiches at number 37

So, tomorrow evening, beer and sandwiches at my place, for watching election results.

feel free to turn up about 11 or so; you can't miss our ghouse, it's got a huge stakeboard outside.

I intend to sing 'the red flag' when the Lib Dems win Cambridge, so bring your singing voices (or earplugs).

Similarly, bring something to put in a sandwich.

You could have political sandwiches. Cheddar for Lib Dem, stilton for Conservative and, Double Gloucester for Labour.

Plus you could make political cocktails - Blue Lagoons for the Tories, Bloody Maries for Labour and Mimosas for the LibDems.

A while back, I invented the New Labour:

1 part cherry brandy, one part blue curacao. It typically comes out a nice purple colour.

I think you mean Pink Gin for New "Labour".

Mmmmmm pink gin.

[identity profile] feanelwa.livejournal.com 2005-05-04 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I disagree. I would vote for pink gin.

I would absolutely vote for Pink Gin. Unfortunately, it's not standing in my area.

This is a disgrace. We should start a lobby group, or possibly a Quango.

You don't fancy coming round to ours then?

[identity profile] ghoti.livejournal.com 2005-05-04 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I would, except that I mentioned the idea to Jon in passing a while ago (I mean, opf specifically beer and sandwiches here) and he seems to be anticipating it with some pleasuure, so I figured I wouldn't,m eg, go to the official lib Demn party as I'd been half-planning, or anythingelse which came up. and I didn't know about yours. Sorry!

The cloth cap and the working class
As images are dated
For we are Labour's avant-garde
And we are educated
By tax adjustments we have planned
To institute the promised land
And just to show we're still sincere
We sing the Red Flag once a year

Firm principles and policies
Are open to objections
And a streamlined party image is
The way to win elections
So raise the umbrella high
The bowler hat and college tie
We'll stand united, raise a cheer
And sing the red flag once a year

It's one step forward, one step back
Our dance is devlish daring
A leftward shuffle, a rightward tack
The pause to take our barings
We'll reform the country, bit by bit
So nobody will notice it
Then ever after, never fear
We'll sing the Red Flag once a year

We will not cease from mental fight
Till every wrong is righted
And all men are equal quite
And all our leaders knighted
For we are sure if we persist
To make the new years honours list
Then every loyal Labour peer
Will sing the red flag once a year

So vote for us, and not for them
We're just as true to N.A.T.O.
We'll be as calm and British when
We steer the ship of state-O
We'll stand as firm as them
To show we're patriotic gentlemen
Though man to man shall brothers be
Deterrence is our policy

So raise the mushroom clouds on high
Within their shade we'll live and die
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer
We'll sing the red flag once a year.

The people's flag is palest pink
It's not as red as people think
