Amazon Secret Santa

Last year I was involved in an Amazon Secret Santa, which got rather large and as a result didn't work very well. I resolved that this year I'd organise one solely based around the UK. I am struck with a sudden bout of lethargy though, and I'm not sure it'd be a good idea.

The idea is that you buy something/s off your giftee's Amazon wishlist, to the tune of £15 (in order to get free shipping). What do you think?

I remember one? two? years ago proposing to make an open ended secret santa/round robin/etc. (The point being, you choose half a dozen people you could choose a gift for, and everyone else does too, and it matches people up randomly from those lists. So you can have millions of people involved, but only people you know apply to you.) But I didn't get round to it before December -- nor this December either, tragically.

or -- and I am being deliberately stupid here -- everybody could buy themselves something and then pretend it came from somebody else? Also, I am either too lethargic or too busy to get involved in such a project, and definitely not sufficiently organized. We could always buy a goat (or something) off the Oxfam or Cafod non-gift lists, which would then be a sort of 3rd world secret santa...

Could be a plan...

We're doing a secret santa thing for the Weightwatchers Xmas lunch. We all go to the class organiser's home and take a dish each and a gift worth 10 euros. I need to find something by next Thursday. Not sure if chocolates is a good or bad thing. We are able to have some if we count the points and the teaching is to make it worth it if you do. Make sure things you use your points for are really nice, so maybe some very nice chocolates...or something for the bath?
