Murder with a crafty angle

I've got all the Needlecraft mysteries by Monica Ferris (which I love) now, so I thought I'd give Maggie Sefton's Knitting mysteries a go, and bought the first two. Well, the characters are OK but the plot is week, and the only redeeming feature for me is that they feature alpacas.

So, that's my question: can you recommend me a book or book series which is actually good and contains alpaca? Or alternatively, something similar in feel (murder mysteries with a crafty angle)?
