For those of you who believe it's acceptable to belittle rape and sexual abuse.

No, it's not. You might be casual, you might be trying to break a taboo, but for those people who've been hurt by it, it's just coming over as insensitive in the extreme.

I don't mean those people whose own rapes/abuse are not important to them - I mean those people who act as though other people's are. If you don't think this applies to you, it probably doesn't, and I'm glad.

It doesn't just affect the person, it affect the people around them. I knew my mother was raped when she was young and when I heard that the older of my two oyunger sisters had been raped I wonder what I could have done, how I could have changed it.
