So, earlier in the year I had a whole lot of blood tests which resolved into 'so you should take this extra strong folic acid and continue to eat horse two or three times a week and exercise immoderately'. And it became obvious that that's exactly what makes me feel physically and mentally a lot healthier so I've been trying to do much better at that, and I got to the point where I felt like I really needed heavier weights. But weights are expensive so I've been dithering, until today I made up my mind that weights now were better than a spinning wheel later for health and happiness, and bought a set of 4kg, 6kg and 8kg dumbbells and I expect I'll want heavier in the future but for now that will do me, and the spinning wheel goal is just set back somewhat further.

SO the nice new heavy weights are in the flapjack muse's workout room, and now we just need to move Jack's weightsbench there and it will be perfect, and I will be all strong and happy and you should feel free to ask me to flex because I will be glad to.

This is a much better video than I previously found of the 7 minute work out we do in karate warm up. No silly music, and it's got beeps to tell you between the 30 second active/10 second rest parts.

I'd actually come to ask whether any of y'all know of a timer app that does that, and I'd still like to know that; x seconds, three beeps at the end, y seconds, repeat. I don't even know what it's called, exercise timer maybe?

I was thinking of aquanatal, but my usual swimming pool does them on a wednesday evening, when I am busy, and the other swimming pool which is half an hour's walk doesn't claim to do them at all (the Rosie's website begs to differ, but if I did do those it'd have to be once I was on maternity leave, unless my days change in September). My midwife suggested that NCT might do exercise classes[*], but the website is unforthcoming on the subject.

Do any of you lot have suggestions of good classes in the Cambridge area?

[*] or I might be confused, as she mentioned Birthlight antenatal classes (which look a bit hippy to me, I'll stick to NHS or NCT), and they do exercise classes. Including yoga less than ten minutes away from me.

I did my exercises again today. The dog seemed to think she needed to save me from them, which she never did before; she's definitely more clingy now.

Anyway, it's been a really long time since I last did, it shows - the belly pic I had for it looks so firm and smooth - but I'm really pleased with how well it went.

it's the little things which really show how I'm getting better, albeit slowly.
